In 2015, the two studied abroad in Cape Town together and fell in love with the city's comedy scene. When they returned in 2017, they discovered vernacular comedy, when comedians perform acts in both English and at least one of their ancestral languages.

Hannah Rafkin and Meg Robbins co-directed and co-produced IN STITCHES, their first documentary. They are no strangers to working together, though-after meeting as freshmen in Film 101 and realizing they share a birthday, they soon became best friends and creative partners. Both Hannah and Meg are experienced storytellers, with backgrounds in print, digital, and photo journalism.
